Research and Development Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Develop and enforce multiple program schedules holding other internal RND groups accountable
  • Communicate with domestic and international vendors on manufacturing direction, cost, and issue resolution
  • Report schedule status, actions, and delays to Managers, Directors, and VPs
  • Create release drawings and spec sheets for new development product
  • Constantly monitor shaft and grip manufacturers for new technologies and products
  • Conduct analytical research on current and future golf clubs and other equipment/mechanisms relating to products.
  • Be responsible for the design, development, testing and implementation of various technologies and innovations relating to improved golf club performance.
  • Plan and conduct or coordinate complex mechanical engineering experiments to test, prove, or modify theoretical propositions on the basis of research findings and experiences.
  • Prepare, organize, and otherwise communicate findings in technical reports to management and other departments as necessary.
  • Liaise with the Intellectual Property team as necessary to facilitate RND and IP coordination.
  • Liaise with the Operations team as necessary to facilitate RND and Operations coordination

Background

  • Ideal candidates would have a Bachelors degree or higher in one of the following majors: Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial/Civil Engineering, Material Science, Physics.
  • New graduates considered.  Some experience (1-5 years) in Engineering field helpful but not necessary.
  • Experience in golf industry is a plus
  •  The successful candidate will exhibit high levels of creative problem-solving skills and grit.

 

Knowledge, exposure to, or experience in the following categories is a plus:

  • Excel: general use, visual basic coding

CNC Programmer

Required Education - High School Diploma or equivalent.  Machinist, Numerical Control Machine Programmer, or similar Certificate from Machine Trade School required.
Required Experience - 1-5 years of hands-on experience in a CNC Machine shop. Candidates with more experience will be considered.

Overview: The CNC Programmer will work within the R&D department on various projects relating to the research and development of golf equipment and products. This includes projects such as prototype creation, manufacturing and assembly support, custom product order execution, and other various R&D machining.

The programmer is responsible for the full execution of a project as it moves through the shop: Mastercam programming, CNC and part setup and preparation, machining, finishing process, and inspection to specification.
This position reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The CNC programmer will additionally work closely with a CNC Operations Coordinator. The candidate must have the capability to work independently with a focus on quality and a strong attention to detail.

The successful candidate will have machine operator experience with CNC mill machines, including, but not limited to: the design of fixtures; aligning and securing tooling; monitoring, cleaning and maintaining machines; performing machine adjustments; inspecting machined components to ensure quality of finished product; and sourcing, purchasing, and maintaining cutting tools and material.

  • Read and interpret job orders and technical drawings

  • Set up machines, set feeds and speeds, operate machines
  • Verify finished work by using precision measuring instruments

Qualifications

  • Ability to multitask, execute various projects simultaneously
  • Ability to operate CNC machines (experience on Hass machines a plus)
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be able to work with RND employees (engineers and non-technical designers) in order to find solutions to various projects
  • Have knowledge of cutters and effectively use cutters for maximum efficiency
  • Must possess ability to work independently and with little supervision
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Must be organized and punctual
  • Positive Attitude with strong sense of self-motivation

Physical Requirements

  • Standing for extended periods of time
  • Lift and move up to 25 lbs at a time

Required Skills

  • Strong Proficiency in Mastercam (minimum 1-2 years experience)
  • Ability to create, edit and save various programs on a PC
  • Familiarity with steel, titanium, and aluminum is a plus
  • Knowledge of inspecting parts
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures involving CNC machines
  • Microsoft Outlook experience a plus
