March 30, 2009

Søren Kjeldsen, who recently signed with Cleveland Golf, held on and secured a victory at the Open de Andalucia de Golf 09. Kjeldsen, who is the current Volvo Masters Champion, joins a list of world class players who have won the title, including Cleveland Golf’s very own Vijay Singh, who won back in 1992.

Kjeldsen’s rounds of 68, 72, 62 and 72 gave him a total of 274 to win the tournament by three shots. The victory capped a thrilling week, which saw him secure a new course record with a career-best third round of 62 at the Real Club de Golf in Seville, Spain.

The victory helped Kjeldsen break into the top 15 in the Race to Dubai, placing him just outside the top-40 in the world rankings and earning him a debut at the Masters Tournament, which starts on April 9th.

In his interview, Kjeldsen said "To be honest, I was very nervous all day, I knew it was going to be a tough day and it was. But I never lost patience and belief."
When asked for his thoughts, Leslie Hepsworth, Chief Executive Officer of Srixon Sports Europe said, "We set out to attract top quality players and with Søren’s fine performance it looks like we are on our way to achieving our goal."

This week, Søren Kjeldsen was playing the following Cleveland equipment:
Launcher Driver (9°)
Launcher 3 wood (15°)
HiBORE XLS Hybrid (19°)
CG Red Irons (3-PW - tour issue)
588 RTG Wedges (51° + 60°)
