CLEVELAND GOLF EARNS 2004 GOLF TIPS TECH AWARD
October 18, 2004

CYPRESS, CA... Cleveland Golf announced today that it received the Golf Tips Magazine 2004 Technology Award for Best New Material. This award, which was announced in the Nov./Dec. issue of Golf Tips Magazine, was presented to Cleveland Golf for the introduction of it’s newest material, Carbon Metal Matrix™ or CMM™.

"We are extremely pleased to receive this award from Golf Tips," said Greg Hopkins, President/CEO of Cleveland Golf. "It’s great to have such a distinguished magazine recognize CMM for the breakthrough material that it is."

This material, while not a composite, is infused with 17 times more carbon than traditional 8620 and 1020 carbon steels. Using a unique process, the CMM material contains microscopic carbon spheres suspended within the molecular structure, thus creating a matrix that is 10% less dense and 15% softer than traditional carbon steels. This low-density material also provides Cleveland Golf’s club designers a greater degree of design freedom to allow for the positioning of weight to critical areas of the clubhead. CMM is currently offered in both the CG1™ irons and the CG10™ line of wedges.
