DÉJÀ BOOApril 21, 2008Hilton Head Island, S.C. (AP) -- Boo Weekley found himself once again triumphant at Verizon Heritage after closing with a even-par for a three stroke victory over Anthony Kim (71) and Aaron Baddeley (71) and a second title in as many years. Last year saw Boo claiming victory with chip-in on the 71st and 72nd hole... 2008 was a different story as Boo took a three shot lead heading into the final round and continued to pull away by staying out of trouble. "It was a lot easier than last year, wasn't it?" a smiling Weekley said to his group on the 17th hole after a routine par. Boo's win earned him $990,000 and a second straight invitation to the Masters.

CLEVELAND GOLF GOES ONE AND TWO AT PEBBLE BEACHFebruary 11, 2008Pebble Beach, CA... It's safe to say that Steve Lowery does not shy away from challenges. Coming off of a wrist injury in '07 and 3 shots down with four to play, Steve stepped up and played some of the best golf of his life, birding 17 which would eventually lead to a playoff against fellow Cleveland staffer and Hall of Famer Vijay Singh.
Steve stood on the 18th tee at Pebble Beach for a playoff hole against one of the toughest competitors in tour history, Vijay Singh. It had been 7 years since his last victory and was under the gun to make $282,558 over eight tournaments to keep his card. No one would have questioned had Lowery crumbled under the pressure, however, on Feb 10, 2008 this would not be the case. Lowery played the world renowned 18th at Pebble Beach to perfection- a perfect drive followed by a wedge shot that zipped back to within 7 feet and putt which seemed like clock work for the 47 year-old. Just like that it was over. Steve went from being on the verge of losing his card, to walking away with $1.08 million and a two year exemption. Perseverance wins. For the full story click here. |

WEEKLEY WINS THE 2007 VERIZON HERITAGEApril 16, 2007HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Boo Earned his first PGA Tour victory in stellar fashion on Monday by chipping in on the final two holes to hold off Ernie Els and win the Verizon Heritage. After a bogey on the 16th hole and a muffed chip behind the 17th , which he saved with a 40 foot chip for par, Boo had given up all but one stroke. His troubles carried into No.18, chipping across the green and into the rough. There was a brief flash back moment from the Honda Classic last month in which Boo missed a 3-footer on the 72nd hole for the victory, but this time he got it done, rolling it in from 36 feet away for the save and the win.
Along with $972,000 and a PGA Tour exemption through 2008, Boo became the first PGA Tour winner to qualify for next Years Masters. Congratulations Boo. Click here for full story HERE.

VIJAY WINS THE 2007 ARNOLD PALMER INVITATIONALMarch 18, 2007Bring on Bay Hill at its toughest. The fairways were tight, the greens brutal. But neither seemed to faze Vijay and his HiBORE XL driver and Never Compromise GM2 Exchange putter.
For 15 years Vijay has been coming to Bay Hill, falling short with three runner ups... 2007 was a different story. With soaring, dogleg-killing drives and clutch putting Vijay pulled free of the field at the Arnold Palmer Invitational Sunday in such a way that even with a bogey-bogey-par finish, he still matched the best score of the round with 3-under 67 leaving him with a two-shot victory over Rocco Mediate.
"Fortunately my putter showed up and did the job for me. I putted great all day, and hit the ball really well. You know, if you hit the ball well and putt well, definitely you're going to do well." Vijay stated after finishing 8-under 272 and becoming the first multiple winner on the PGA Tour this year.

Durant finished at 25-under-par 263 for a four-shot victory over Tory Matteson and a check for $828,000. His key to success, "Putting, which is typically the farthest from being the best, honestly. If you do that and you're a decent hitter of the ball, you'll do well, and that was the case this week."

SENDEN WIN JOHN DEERE CLASSICJuly 17, 2006Hat's off to Cleveland Golf staffer John Senden for earning his first PGA Tour victory with a win at the John Deere Classic. Senden, who had been dreaming of this moment since joining the tour five years ago, birdied the 17th and saved par from the greenside bunker on the 18th to hold off 2002 Champion, J.P Hayes. "My lie in the bunker was a beautiful lie," he said. "An uphill lie, and all I had to do was splash it out and it was going to track down to the hole...I had to be positive. Knocking that last putt in was fantastic."
Senden shot three-under 68 in the final round, finishing at 19 under par (265) to beat Hayes by one stroke and qualify for next week's British Open. Congratulations John!
